How to cut your own hair

For some people, going to a salon or a hairdresser is a pleasant experience. For others, this is what they would prefer not to do.
Whether it depends on the price of a haircut or other factors, if you decide to cut your own hair yourself, you should know a few things.
Here is our guide to self-cutting:
For a more detailed home grooming guide, I recommend purchasing "A guide to haircut for beginners". With it, you can cut your hair like a professional. And all this without expensive trips to the salon.
Recommendations for hair cutting:
- Cutting wet hair is much easier than dry. Work with clean and untidy hair. Keep a water spray bottle nearby so that you can moisturize your hair if it starts to dry while you work on it.
- Make sure your scissors are nice and sharp to avoid stretching your hair. If you plan to cut your hair at home on a regular basis, then you should buy good quality scissors, or a good hair clipper.
- You might want to purchase RoboCut - professional haircut system. But no matter what you use, always cut a little bit, especially if you are a beginner. You can always cut a little more hair, but once you’ve done too short, all you can do is wait for the hair to grow back.
- Simple hairstyles are best suited for homemade haircuts. The easiest way is to cut the same length of hair over the entire head. Determine the overall length (measuring your hair is a good idea when you have a haircut that you like), and then determine the extra area by measuring with a ruler.
When working on small areas, brush your hair straight from the scalp and hold a part of the hair evenly between the index and middle fingers. Measure the desired length and carefully cut off the excess. Keep it up until you cut all your hair. This method can be applied equally well, both for women and men, for people with both long and short hair. The length of the chosen haircut can vary from very short to long: with hair up to the shoulders and below.
- You can start with a professional haircut, and then simply cut the same hair size from all areas of the head every month or two to maintain the hairstyle style. But know that for most people, the hair on one side of the head grows faster than on the other. And if you choose this haircut method, then from time to time, you will need to visit your stylist when the haircut turns out to be uneven.

Then take the usual pose and check whether the hairstyle turned out really nice. Split the hair in the middle and comb it straight down. Take small patches of hair between the index and middle fingers to check for excess unsharp parts. If you find them, carefully cut off the excess.
Helpful advice: if you have curly hair, be sure to cut your hair much longer than the intended length should be. Curls shrink a little when they dry out, so you should consider this. If your hair is very thick or hard, grab a very small section of hair for cutting. Attempting to cut too much hair at once, especially of a thick type, can cause the hair to bend between the scissors blades instead of being cut off evenly.
No matter what type of cutting you used, be sure to check the length of the hair on all parts of the head. Simply grab the hair from opposite sides and gently guide it to the eyes, nose, chin and jaw line to check if the sides are cropped symmetrically enough. If there are bumps, carefully cut them.Working with bangs, Start by dividing the hair in the center. Using a comb, take an equal amount of hair on each side and comb it forward. As before, holding the hair area with the middle and index fingers, cut the bangs, and be careful, keeping a straight line when cutting.
After getting used to cutting your own hair, you can try to make more complex hairstyles.
There are many wonderful books and video courses that, step by step, teach the art of haircuts. The video can be especially useful, as you can see all the work of the hairdresser in action and can stop and rewind it as many times as necessary to help you maximize your skills.
